Which browser should I use?

On the streaming computer: Google Chrome. Glossa is built and tested on Chrome, on a laptop or desktop. Other browsers may work, but they are not supported, and Firefox and Safari are the most common reason a stream never starts or seems to hang. If you set up in another browser and it stalls, install Chrome, log in again and try the same service.

Listeners: any modern browser. Your congregation scans the QR code and the listener page opens in whatever browser their phone uses, Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. Nothing to install. There are also Glossa apps for iOS and Android, which add a personal translation mode for one-to-one use.

  1. Check the microphone permission. If the prompt was dismissed, click the padlock in the address bar and set Microphone to Allow, then reload the page.
  2. Make sure the right audio input is selected in the dropdown on the service page.
  3. Click Start Streaming and speak. The audio meter should move and your words should appear as text within a second or two. If nothing appears, audio is not reaching Glossa and listeners will get nothing.
