Understanding "transcriber" minutes on your bill
Transcriber is the line in your usage breakdown for minutes when the stream was running and someone was speaking, but no listener was connected in any language. Glossa still has to transcribe the speech so it is ready for the first listener, so that time is charged at the rate of one language: $5 per hour on Pay As You Go, or taken from your plan’s included hours.
What it is not
Section titled “What it is not”- It is not an extra language and it does not stack on top of your listeners’ languages. As soon as one listener connects, that language is billed instead, so the transcriber line never doubles your cost.
- It is not something you can switch off. It simply stops appearing while a listener is connected, and when the stream is off.
Why it shows up
Section titled “Why it shows up”Usually the stream was started well before the service, left running after it ended, or ran during a rehearsal or sound check before anyone had scanned the QR code. Any speech during that time counts.
How to avoid it
Section titled “How to avoid it”- Stop the stream as soon as your service ends. This is the single most effective habit.
- Add “stop the Glossa stream” to your end-of-service checklist alongside shutting down your other gear.
- If you run back to back services, stop the stream between them if there’s a gap with open mics or background audio.
Make stopping the stream part of your routine and this simply won’t come up.
